Absolutely Ricardo, with regard to a suggestion of ''contradiction'',and some sort of cover-up,by specifically senior police,as opposed to the Crown Prosecution Service - whom,I believe, have only ever sought to ''facilitate'' the whole process of investigation [i.e.The office of The Lord Advocate].
When Lord Advocate,Frank Mulholland, announced the re-investigation of the murder of Brenda Page,he talked of ''a long road ahead'',and further to this, the possibility of announcements regarding other cases in the North-East of Scotland.Anyone with an eye for ''historical context'',would have seen this to be a reference to ''The Templeton Woods Murders'' of Carol Lannen and Elizabeth McCabe. Two murders that followed, six months and one year respectively,in the wake of that of Brenda Page's.
No formal announcements, regarding the Dundee Templeton Woods murders, have materialized. But they do have ''open''status, anyway, and all information ends up at The Lord Advocate's office, for perusal.Strangely,on the first anniversary of Brenda Page's re-investigation,last year,The Daily Record carried a story about Miss Lannen's son. So,there are no doubt, individuals that understand a possible connection.
With regard to Emma Caldwell's murder re-investigation,three months following that of Brenda Page's,Frank Mulholland talked of the ''new'' investigation team,''not'' containing anyone involved in the previous ''original'' investigation. This,I would venture, must have come as a bitter pill to some senior policemen who, would have taken great professional satisfaction in righting the mistakes made,in that original investigation.
Coincidentally,it is largely those senior policemen, whom the ''spying scandal'' surrounds,in both action and subsequent denial of DCC Richardson's claims of mitigation through an ongoing ''Live Murder Inquiry'',at the time.
How ironically ''poetic'',perhaps....that Frank Mulholland was right to ''overlook'' those officers,in the first place [!].Just how many chances were they supposed to be given,to mess up [?].
-------------------
One can't be sure about the precise, and real reasons behind the specialist team joining the Emma Caldwell re-investigation team,at Stirling. It may just be political ''symbolism''.I believe that Detective Chief Superintendent Gareth Blair's comments ''underscore'' the work that actually has been going on - and has little or nothing to do with ''direction'' and ''strategy'' of the murder inquiry.
I think that anyone who has been following this whole story, understands that,in all probability, there is one man that is ''pulling the strings'' and leading the way forward.
Someone, perhaps, who is in the employment of the Scottish Government, with no ''discernible portfolio'' [?].
One guess.

Campaigning Lawyer,Aamer Anwar,accompanied by Mrs.Margaret Caldwell,emerged from the Lord Advocate's office,to-day,following a meeting with The Lord Advocate.
To awaiting reporters,Mr.Anwar stated that both he and Mrs.Caldwell were satisfied with a progress report on the re-investigation of the murder of Mrs.Caldwell's daughter,Emma. He further stated that Mrs.Caldwell has confidence in the seriousness that the Police and Crown Office, are treating the case. But,he added that this confidence is conditional on Mrs.Caldwell being kept abreast of any further developments.

Good to see up to date media reports,Ricardo.
I think it apparent that Law Enforcement are doing their utmost,to impress on Miss Caldwell's family of their seriousness and dedication to finding her killer.
The Met officers called in,do appear to be a brigade of ''Librarians and Filers'' [?].But it should not demean the task, for which they are required. It actually tends to indicate that the current team are making progress, but are in need of assistance [?].
The overall impression is that the Police and Crown office are indicating that they require more time, and hope that the public will be understanding,of this [?].

In Robert Graysmith's ''Zodiac Unmasked'',published in 2002,he included a letter, purportedly typed by Zodiac, and sent to The San Francisco Chronicle from a mailbox in Los Angeles. This,on July 19th 1978,and coincidentally or otherwise, five days following the murder of Dr.Brenda Page,in Aberdeen,Scotland,U.K.
To date,no one actually claims to have seen the letter, and Mr.Graysmith no longer involves himself with the case of The Zodiac Killer.
To remind readers of the letter's contents :
''I am the ZODIAC and I am in control of all things.I am going to tell you a secret.I like friction tape.I like to have it around in case I need to truss someone up in a hurry.I have my real name on a small metallic tape. You see, while you have it in your possession,I want you to know it belongs to me and that I may have left it accidentally.I am athletic.I could be swim fins,or a piece of scuba gear. But maybe you play Chess with me ?I have several cheap sets all over.I have my name on the bottom of the lid of the Scotch tape....My tape is waiting for me all over California.Do you know me ?I am the ZODIAC and I am in control.''
This is all we have - on an ''assurance'' from Mr.Graysmith.
Well, there is certainly some ''cryptic'' messaging here. But no apparent spelling errors. And,we are not entirely sure how the author of this letter, spaced his wording out.- i.e.separation of sentences or paragraphs,in order to ''order'' or emphasize meaning.
But a letter that certainly could be authentic. One should remember that individuals, like Sherwood Morrill, were ''Documents Examiners'',as well as ''Handwriting Experts''.That ''Handwriting Experts'' make their living, largely through proving or disproving ''Forgery'' [?].
One might presume that ''tape'' is a euphemism for ''antics''.Perhaps ''friction tape'',therefore denoting ''havoc'' [?].And ''Scotch tape'',''Scottish antics'' [?].For that is one reason that this letter might demand attention [?].And that ''Zodiac'' intimates that further ''antics'' are to be played out in California [?].
''I am athletic.I could be swim fins,or a piece of scuba gear.'' [?].Tricky to interpret.Three clues perhaps, for one solution [?].Possibly ''Aquatic'' [?].If ''Zodiac'' had actually written ''I am aquatic.I could be swim fins,or scuba gear.'',then we could be closer to interpreting what, precisely,he was attempting to convey.A diving club, perhaps,to which he is a member [?].Or,a commercial company, for which he is an employee [?].
''But maybe you play Chess with me ?I have several cheap sets in closets all over.''[?].''Chess'' we might assume, means ''mind games'',as opposed to the ''physical'' mayhem, that ''Zodiac'' intends.More particularly, his ciphers and puzzles.I have made mention before, that I believed that Zodiac employed Chess boards to plan his ciphers, utilizing them as rudimentary grid systems - possibly with the addition of Scrabble tiles. In addition, that Zodiac has access to creating his ''mind games'',in many places.
Finally,if we return to ''tape'',and ''Zodiac's'' association,by name.He talks of his name on a small metallic tape, and adds, near the end of the letter, that his name is on the bottom of the lid of the Scotch tape.
Homing in on Brenda Page's murder,specifically :
In the wake of Dr.Page's murder, the investigating police talked of the fatal injuries sustained by her.Dr.Page received massive blunt force trauma to her head,in particular. The police suggested that she had been struck repeatedly with an unspecified ''metallic blunt instrument''.We assume that, they at least had an idea of what this murder weapon, might have been, from the wounds that she sustained.Perhaps a ''claw'' or ''club'' hammer [?].
Perhaps,it is the case that, this letter gave away two clues to an association with her murder [?].
The ''Scotch tape'',referring to a Scottish murder [?].But also, that ''Zodiac'' left his murder weapon, behind [?].

The murder of Brenda Page,in Aberdeen,Scotland,[July 1978],involved the perpetrator going to extraordinary lengths,to create ''geographic'' red herrings, with the use of a motorcar,to ''cover his tracks''.
The murder of Carol Lannen,in Dundee,Scotland,[March 1979],involved the perpetrator going to extraordinary lengths,to create ''geographic'' red herrings, with the use of a motorcar,to ''cover his tracks''.
The murder of Elizabeth McCabe,in Dundee,Scotland,[February 1980],similarly to the two above.
In the first two murder cases, the investigating police, though keeping their options open, are persuaded that the perpetrator resided in the vicinity of the city of Aberdeen. They are also persuaded of a likelihood, that the perpetrator worked in the Oil Industry.
Though still ''The Oil Capital of Europe'',Aberdeen had its ''heyday'' for inflated industrial commerce and population, circa 1975-2000.This included, apart from Oil workers from other parts of the U.K.,about 10,000 Dutch and 10,000 American nationals.
---------------
American nationals came from all over the U.S.A.,but particularly from the States of California,Louisiana and Texas.
Their predominant travelling itinerary would be to fly to the Airports of either Newark,New Jersey,or Logan,Boston. These airports represented their trans-Atlantic gateway.Flying to Dublin,London or Amsterdam, these Oil personnel could then catch a connection to Aberdeen Dyce Airport,Aberdeen,Scotland.
Newark and Logan, therefore, were their ''American'' connections.
----------------
It comes as a,perhaps minor coincidence, that a murder, sometimes associated with The Zodiac Killer, should involve both Newark and Logan Airports.
That of the unsolved case of Miss Joan Webster, age 25,a Harvard graduate student, who flew from Newark to Logan,on Eastern Flight 960,on the 28th of November 1981.
On arrival at Logan Airport,Miss Webster was seen talking to a ''bearded man'' at ''Baggage reclaim'',then seen leaving the airport terminal, with this [presumed] man.
She was never seen again.
Two days later,Miss Webster was reported missing from her Harvard University residence.
Two days following this, her purse and wallet, were recovered from a marshy area, close to Logan Airport.
On January 29th 1982,Joan Webster's [unopened] Lark suitcase, was recovered from Boston's Greyhound Bus Station.
Finally,on April 18th 1990,the remains of Joan Webster,were discovered under a wood pile,in forest land at Hamilton,MA,U.S.A.
She was identified from dental records.Though precise cause of death cannot be certain, examination of her skull suggests that, like Brenda Page, she sustained massive blunt force trauma,to her head.
As with many unsolved cases,in the intervening years, many theories abound, including an ''eccentric'' one,by History scholar Gareth Penn, that Miss Webster was murdered by Harvard lecturer,Michael Henry O'Hare - whom, according to Penn, was also The Zodiac Killer.
----------------
Well,it may have been seen,as a bit far fetched, for Penn to accuse Mr.O'Hare of Miss Webster's murder. But,the notion that her perpetrator was Zodiac, may not be so ''out of the ballpark''.
If perhaps,Zodiac was an Oil worker [?].
It would appear that Joan Webster was offered a lift to Harvard University,at ''Baggage reclaim''.By someone, perhaps, that had previously met her at ''Newark Departures''[?].Someone, that traveled on that same Eastern Flight 960,as Miss Webster [?].
Someone, perhaps, who had elected to take time out from their journey, with ultimate destination,Aberdeen,Scotland [?].

Merely a coincidence ?
Following my previous post,I came across a letter, made public,by Eve Carson,sister-in-law to the late Joan Webster.
Ms.Carson had been attempting to gain information,on Ms.Webster's case, from The District Attorney's office, for Essex County,MA - who officially hold jurisdiction over Ms.Webster's unsolved murder.
The letter, from The District Attorney,in effect denied Ms.Carson her requested information.
By way of some explanation,The District Attorney added :
''As we then informed you, this office,in co-operation with other law enforcement agencies, had renewed the investigation into Miss Webster's murder, prior to your request. This coincided with the renewal of investigations into other unsolved, and possibly connected murders, from the same era.''
This letter,that Ms.Carson received,was dated March 2nd 2015.
March 2nd 2015,was three days following the official re-investigation request, into the murder of Brenda Page,in Aberdeen,Scotland.

To-day,on the second anniversary of the official re-investigation into the murder of Brenda Page,a brief statement was released to the press,by Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith.
The re-investigation team are situated in Aberdeen,Scotland, and lead by Detective Superintendent Malcolm Stewart.
Detective Chief Inspector Smith said :
''Evidence during the initial investigation, and the years that followed,is being painstakingly reviewed.''
DCI Smith added, with reference to advanced DNA analysis :
''This complex process is progressing, and will continue to do so.''
--------------
Genetics scientist Dr.Page, was attacked in her city flat,by an intruder who had lain in wait, for her return from a dinner date,as a moonlighting escort.
This,on July 14th 1978.

As Police Scotland, facilitated [or lead ?]by the Crown Prosecution Service, press on with their efforts to find the killer,or killers,of Emma Caldwell and Brenda Page, the ''Spying Scandal''continues to cast a shadow over investigations.
It is believed that the ''controversial'' Counter Corruption Unit [CCU] had illegally targeted two former, and two serving officers, including The Daily Record's whistleblower,Gerry Gallagher.
Mr.Gallagher has recently received a formal letter of apology, from Deputy Chief Constable,Rose Fitzpatrick.Last year,Gallagher had accepted a $15,000 award,by way of compensation for a breach of his Human Rights.
Chief Constable of Durham Police,Mike Barton,is believed to be close to concluding his ''independent''inquiry into the CCU's conduct, with respect to their illegal monitoring.CC Barton has recently met with DCC Fitzpatrick,to discuss progress in this matter.Early reports suggest that,up to 12 senior officers may face misconduct proceedings.
With the 12th anniversary of Emma Caldwell's murder,a mere two weeks away,it is unlikely that the press will allow it to slip by,quietly.
Certainly not The Daily Record,anyway.

Yes indeed,Ricardo, there will be more news about the misconduct proceedings.
All part of a due process, caused by the ''recklessness'' of a few senior officers, given a yet, specifically unknown set of circumstances - despite certain ''claims'',already offered [?].Whatever opinions,or even sympathies, some might have, these officers technically broke the Law.
Personally,I err on the side of ''sympathy'',but,to perhaps state the obvious, they are not a law unto themselves - and must face the consequences of their actions.
Will there be more news about the investigation of the murder of Emma Caldwell ?
Undoubtedly, there will be.April 4th and May 27th will be anniversaries of note, with the latter date marking two years of official re-investigation,into Miss Caldwell's murder.
For a number of reasons her ''ultimate injustice'' has become an ''open wound'',that requires ''fixing'' as soon as is possible.
The Crown Prosecution Service would have hoped for less ''highlight'',but these are the cards that they have been dealt, given the imprudent actions of the police,in both its guise as Police Scotland, and its former investigative ''self'',as Strathclyde Police.
It is beyond question, though, that the re-investigation teams in Stirling and Aberdeen, are doing their utmost,to deliver answers and justice.
Time will only tell.

To-day,on the 12th anniversary of the disappearance of sex worker,Emma Caldwell,in Glasgow,Scotland,Police Scotland made their presence felt,by sending a team of searchers to a remote forestry spot,30 miles outside Glasgow.
Here,at Roberton,in South Lanarkshire,Miss Caldwell's body was found,five weeks following her disappearance.
Television cameras filmed the police searching for clues or evidence, related to Miss Caldwell's missing handbag, and its contents.
It is understood that police divers, were intending to search a nearby pond, later in the day.
Police Scotland renewed their calls for Emma's killer to come forward.

Some excellent media information, posted by you,Ricardo.
It seems that, after nearly two years, the re-investigation of Emma Caldwell's murder is ''going public''.
And the first time that ''we'' are introduced to Detective Superintendent David McLaren, the lead officer,in this investigation.
As has been mentioned, the re-investigation team find themselves at a ''crucial stage'' in their efforts to apprehend the perpetrator.
It is all very interesting to view the progress, but of course, actual interpretation of ''events'' can be difficult to surmise [!].
But ''heartening'' that general efforts appear ''concentrated'' and determined.
