Thanks again Zamantha,
It is good to know that all these years we wondered if they shared the DNA that they have with SFPD DNA. Now we know they didn't. The idea that the Bell Tower was constructed in 1966 and was made of concrete, peeked my interest , because my suspect just happened to work in Concrete. The reporter mad only one tiny mistake and that was the two 22 Super X longs casings that I found, were not found in my car they were found at the Lake Herman crime scene. Are they the two that were missing, I have no idea?

After 50 years, Zodiac hunters, police still seeking Cheri Jo Bates' killer www.pe.com/articles/bates-817672-zodiac-case.htmlI am glad that we remembered Cheri Jo Bates on the 50th anniversary. I would like the Riverside Police Department to compare the DNA from the Cheri Jo Bates crime scene to the DNA which was under the stamps of the envelopes mailed by the Zodiac killer. Also, the hair could be compared to hair from other suspects. There is still hope that this case will be solved!

After 50 years, Zodiac hunters, police still seeking Cheri Jo Bates' killer www.pe.com/articles/bates-817672-zodiac-case.htmlThe article includes a photo of the small Catholic prayer book which was left for Sandy. If someone who knew Cheri Jo Bates reads the article and sees the photo, they may be able to tell whether or not Cheri Jo Bates ever had it.

The idea that the Bell Tower was constructed in 1966 and was made of concrete, peeked my interest , because my suspect just happened to work in Concrete. How UCR is celebrating bell tower's 50 years www.pe.com/articles/tower-817573-carillon-bell.htmlIt happens that it is also the 50th anniversary of the bell tower at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). The University of California, Riverside (UCR) is less than five miles from Riverside City College (RCC). It takes about ten minutes to drive from one campus to the other campus. The bell tower is known for its carillon which contains its bells. The bell tower was dedicated on October 2, 1966. There was construction being done at both the University of California, Riverside (UCR) and Riverside City College (RCC) in 1966. Maybe the killer of Cheri Jo Bates could have been in Riverside in relation to the construction of the bell tower and other buildings at these college campuses?

Thank you Ricardo, I missed seeing the picture of the tiny Bible/prayer book in the article, I am so glad they showed it. Perhaps Michael Bates will recognize it as belonging to his sister? If so that could be a smoking gun ! For some unknown reason,I hadn't noticed on the second page of that book, there appears to be what looks like blood? You can see part of it in the picture. The spot was not not spatter but dropped on that page.
Or RPD might want to check it for DNA to see if it was Cheri Jo's or her killers DNA? (When killers use a knife to kill, they sometimes cut themselves.)

Also people who were mechanics on planes would have them. Zodiac could have gotten them anywhere and wore them to throw the police off, like I believe he did in his confession letter. When he said that Cheri Jo had brushed him off in the past, I think he wanted the detectives to think he was about her age, when in fact he was probably closer ti her fathers age. As we know it has worked for all these yrs, they are still thinking the killer was a young boy and could not be Zodiac.Yet they agree that the writer of the confession letter was Zodiac and he had knowledge that only the killer would have.
We hope that keeping her case alive will stir up some good information about the killer. Of course I believe Zodiac is alive and that if he see's the article in the paper, that he will want to write to it and make a comment? Of course being the coward that he is, he may stay in hiding for fear that he can't out smart today's technology. The article if anyone wants a copy can be ordered at 714 796 2339.Be sure to say you want the Nov. 7th "Press Enterprise" issue. The cost including shipping is $7.54 and will take 7 to 10 days to get it via UPS.

The library was in the Quadrangle on Terracina Drive in October of 1966. Cheri Jo Bates’s Volkswagon was parked on the eastern side of the Quadrangle. The crime scene was on the western side of the Quadrangle. The writer of the Confession claimed “I told her that my car was down the street and that I would give her a lift home. When we were away from the library walking, I said it was about time.” The murderer of Cher Jo Bates probably knew that the houses by the crime scene in 1966 were not occupied at the time. The houses were not mentioned in the Confession.

Even though the map shows a building next to the dot showing where Cheri Jo's body was found, there were a row of homes there "facing" Terracina,(not the side street) that building was not there in 1966. Her body was found between the first two homes closest to the Quad between 3860 and 3892 Terracina. There was a very good 1966 map that I tried to copy and paste here, but it would not paste.
I received my copy of the newspaper article yesterday ,about us being in Riverside for Cheri Jo's 50th anniversary. It was front page news !I was told by the reporter that I can not post the paper , only a link to their website PE.com showing the article. So anyone who gets a copy, please don't post it because of copy rights. (It is ok to do after 50yrs)

Maybe the murderer told Cheri Jo Bates that he lived at one of the houses and she could use his telephone to call her father to let him know about her car problems.

I believe that Zodiac had a connection to Cheri Jo's father. That is why he sent that cruel letter to him. Could Zodiac have worked at March Air force base? Sure he could have. He could have worked at the Press Enterprise and gotten the teletype paper there.
Ironically, where I found the Zodiac watch case , that I reported to Paul Avery in 1971-72,that was found directly across the street from Woolworth's in Concord Ca., on Willow Pass rd. I was living in Clayton at that time and was being followed by whom I believe was Zodiac.
He is the same man I got away from in Vallejo in 1968. Has anyone every given any thought to what those odds are?

He could have worked at the Press Enterprise and gotten the teletype paper there. In my opinion, the note mailed to the father seemed too personal. The note was addressed to Cheri Jo Bates' father by name. What would have been the purpose for the killer to send this note?

Presumably, the Zodiac killer decided to use the writing paper which which could be bought at any Woolworth’s store because it would be more difficult to trace than other types of paper. Maybe the Zodiac killer thought using the teletype paper was a mistake that was made in Riverside in 1966 because there was a possibility that the teletype paper could have been traced to a military base. If the Zodiac killer had any connection to the military, whatever type of connection it might have been, then by 1969 he realized that it would be necessary to conceal it to avoid being caught. As concerns Cheri Jo Bates, her father and her brother had military connections. The father of Cheri Jo Bates was a P-47 Thunderbolt pilot. p47pilots.com/P47-Pilots.cfm?c=incP47BiographyHome.cfm&vm=BIO&pilotid=24&p=Joseph%20C.%20BatesThe brother of Cheri Jo Bates was in the Navy. The killer of Cheri Jo Bates could have been someone who was acquainted with either her father or her brother. I know that a lot of what I have to tell is pretty hard to believe, but my friend Donna at the donut shop where I went most every day back in the 80's, told me my stalker was sitting there one morning ,reading something on a long piece of teletype paper and he was highlighting parts of it. I think he knew that what ever he did there, that Donna would let me know, so some was probably done on purpose. When I asked her what sort of donuts did he eat? She said a "maple" bar and a "cherry" filled donut (This guy has a funny sense of humor.) Donna had no idea about the Z case and of course didn't know about what correlation that cherry and maple had. I always sat at one particular table to read the paper and drink my morning cup of coffee. My stalker knew where I sat because he had seen me there. One morning he wrote a message on the large yellow napkin holder at my table " I was Here BITCH". By then he was very upset that I was spending most of my spare time investigating him and reporting to my local police department everything he was doing. Many phone traps were put on my phone to try and catch him.I had no idea the there was a name developed from calls in 1992, the name was Roberto Hernandez,I just found that out a few weeks ago! That match's the RH on the Riverside desk.Could Roberto be my Honcho suspect? I will have to do more checking of Roberto. I do have one in Riverside 1966 who bought a claim to a mine in that county.Thank goodness I have a copy of that paper, with z like printing on the claim.
