Often referred to , as the Zodiac's special signature , the sign that the Zodiac left behind in the Halloween Card , that appears to be a variation on Fred Harman's '' Flying V '' cattle brand , has produced many suggestions for its representation . Among these , an abstraction of the Diablo Mountains , a popular choice .
But , what of the four dots included in the special signature ?
The Zodiac's eyes and his car headlights emerging from the Diablo ( Devil ) Mountains , perhaps ?
The four dots in Braille signifying '' i.e '', another suggestion .
A further solution could be that the four dots represent two dice which display '' double-two '' . And , most of us are aware of the general connotation surrounding the significance of '' Catch-22 ''.
In poker , there is a saying : '' A pair of deuces never loses '' .In addition , that the '' Deuce '' is traditionally another name for the Devil and , indicative of misfortune .
A pair of Devils , then ( ? ) , if only the Zodiac and his motorcar .

What is a '' Byknife '' ?
Byknives are a collection of implements that constitute a type of weapon . The weapon might consist of a dagger and/or sword knife , with extra items of practical use , such as prickers . Then all accommodated in a scabbard or sheath . These weapons were popular in the 15th and 16th Centuries and , that which we recognize to-day as a '' Swiss Army Knife '', are modern and miniature versions of '' Byknives '' .
So , when the Zodiac wrote '' Byknife '' on the back of Avery's Halloween Card , he was being teasingly non-specific .
The Zodiac probably used a sword bayonet with wooden hilt ( handle ) , at Lake Berryessa .
But , in general terms , it was a '' Byknife '' .

I wondered if he had a poor experience in a similar dating situation and it bothered him. Lets remember the times. It was not acceptable even in San Francisco to be gay. Perhaps he couldn't perform since he wasn't interested in women but felt compelled by society. It would make sense that a loner has the time to engage in making ciphers and cards without being disturbed. |

Was the Zodiac issuing a threat to one of Darlene Ferrin's sisters , in the Halloween Card ?
As has been mentioned before , it is conceivable that the FBI did play with the Halloween Card to an extent , and that one example may be that '' By GUN '' was originally written as '' By-GUM ''.
Why By-GUM ? By-Gum is one of three sisters in the Texas Mikado ( The Capitalist ) , and may have been referring to Darlene Ferrin , as a victim already accomplished .
Why Darlene Ferrin , with respect to the card ? Since '' By D By '' and '' NCP '' may represent a message :
'' Bye Dee , Bye . - Nincompoop '' . '' Nanki-Poo '' , the wandering minstrel , whose name is based on the word for a fool , '' Nincompoop ''.
Darlene Ferrin was known as '' Dee '' to those close associates . If Nincompoop ( NCP ) is '' Nanki-Poo '' , then Dee is '' Yum-Yum ''. And naturally , the inference is that Nincompoop ( NCP ) = Nanki-Poo = The Zodiac .

If we compare the Three Little Maids in The Mikado , with the equivalent Three sisters in The Texas Mikado , then :
Yum-Yum - By-Gum
Pitty-Sing - Pretty-Thing
Peep-Bo - Peek-A-Boo
Also : Nanki-Poo - Yankee-Doo
Hence :
If Darlene Ferrin is Yum-Yum/By-Gum , then one her sisters is '' Peek-A-Boo ''.
In the inside of the Halloween Card , is written : '' Peek-A-Boo , you are doomed ! ''
The inference therefore , that the Zodiac/Nanki-Poo/Yanee-Doo is issuing a death threat to '' Peek-A-Boo ''.
And , that the person's identity , who is being threatened , is one of now-deceased Darlene Ferrin's sisters .

Hi everyone,
I'm new here to forum and look forward to many interesting discussions with you all.
In regards to why did Zodiac say Sorry No Cipher I'm starting to think that Zodiac did leave a cipher in the strange Symbols he used at the bottom of the Halloween Card. I had been taking a look at the FBI Police Report and noticed that they thought Zodiac had a knowledge of Meteorology. I had been looking at Maps and went on to look at Meteorology where I found charts with Symbols representing weather, climate etc and noticed that a couple were very similar to what Zodiac had used and put together.
The F & L symbols Zodiac put together have references in Meteorology and could mean Wind Speed was 20 knots, the clouds were thick and blotted out the sun or moon, the dots can tell us it was raining heavily continuously. I had previously been looking over the old map of paradise and got to thinking about map symbols and came across some that could also refer to the cipher.
The F & L come together to form what could be a symbol for a Mountain but I also found the symbol on an old Japanese Treasure Map relating to Colonel Tanaka Toru of the Japanese Imperial Army said to have buried loot he amassed during World War II. The symbol represents a Diamond, there is also a Z symbol which represents stairs. On another old treasure map I found an upturned L which means to proceed digging. Dots on maps can also represent burials.
I think he was pointing to a mine the Black Diamond Mine which sits on the outskirts of Paradise, Ca.
Could this be a map and does the Halloween Card lead us to a site? I was also thinking that the 9 eyes on the tree could represent murders he has already committed, on the opposite side of the tree there are 4 eyes, 4 Teens and 4 dots. Could it mean he is adding 4 more to the score of 9 giving the number 13? which would kinda link to the strange Equinox note from 1972 with the 444 that is under the unconfirmed letters section.

Thanks for your interesting comments and observations . Indeed , Meteorology as an interpretation is a feasible notion . It is clear that the Zodiac was '' orientation '' minded , and one can't help feeling that he always ventured out as a well-prepared motorist and pedestrian also . The weather then , might have been something he factored in , and for which he gave consideration , also .
This thread on the Halloween Card has always been popular , with the Halloween Card itself perhaps the most popular attraction of all the Zodiac's correspondence work . There seems to be so much going on , with apparent duplicity in evidence . So , plenty of room for manoeuvre on interpretation . and I for one take on board your observations .
You should consider becoming a member , here ( ? ) . I'm sure that you could add a lot more to this site .

Thanks for your support and advice it is much appreciated. I have requested membership, just waiting on confirmation. I always find your posts so knowledgeable and they have helped me a lot in getting a good grip of the Zodiac case especially when it comes to sticking to the facts of the case.
I agree that there is much duplicity with Zodiacs Communications, it's just finding the right way to read it or at least looking at the possibilities of what he may be trying to convey. I think the Halloween Card gets to everybody lol, it's such a puzzle which is what Z was all about I think, the games.

Hi there I've been doing my usual searching about all things Zodiac and came across an interesting Brand Registered in Kentucky which is very much like the symbols on Zodiac's Halloween Card but without the dots, you can see it on page 32 of 34 at bottom of the page, link here www.kyagr.com/statevet/documents/AM_BrandBook013118.pdfThe Brand is registered to a Phillip & Mary Jo Veluzat in Kentucky, Phillip was a Park Ranger, marrying Mary Jo in 1973/4, there is a interview that has been done with Phil & Mary Jo about their careers in the Parks and Phillip does appear to have issues with LE/FBI you can read it on the following link digitalcommons.wku.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1242&context=dlsc_fa_oral_histAnother interesting point is that the Veluzat Family own Movie Ranches in California, the Diamond V Ranch, Melody Ranch and the Veluzat Movie ranch, all in the Santa Clarita valley. Very interesting , Ninecrows333 , and well=spotted . The symbol looks like a mirror-image of the '' Bat Creek Inscription '' symbol , associated with the cipher tablet find , at Loudon County , TN . And , on that same page ( 32 ) , is a '' triple - 8 '' symbol , bringing to mind the three '' 8-Ball '' symbols employed in the Zodiac's '' My name is ---'' Cipher .
The Bat Creek symbol has been known , for close to 150 years , so quite likely that the Kentucky registered brand is a ''steal '' of sorts ( ? ) .

Your right about it being the mirror image on the Bat Creek Stone Rubislaw32 so it's very possible it was taken from it. The Veluzat Family appear to have been around Kentucky from the 1750's. I did spy the Triple 8 brand, I'm not sure how old the Brand is as it was registered by new owners the Darlings in 2010 but could predate them.

To Rubislaw32: I am sorry and I apologize. Let me explain please. That day was early, I forgot meds. I have seizures. What you saw was a TIA that starts right before a seizure. I think I am doing something right and then I kind of wake up and see what I did. I did not wake up for hours- it was a grand mal and it turned into a stroke. Today is the first day I saw messages I wrote, I am very embarrassed. I have a broken vessel in my brain. You can call Parker Adventist in Parker Co and verify this. I was sick for a week. The ambulance came and took me away. They can check and see if it was a stroke. Yes it was. I have very little memory, no balance, unable to speak, dont know what I am doing, but whatever it is, I think it is wonderful. See you have no decision skills, but I started writing and it just happened. I have no balance, I cannot drive for the past two years, because I could hurt someone. When you have these, you just pass out cold and I did that day after the beginning symptoms were done. I have also Bipolar II, its not like Bipolar I. You have no decision making skills. Combine the two, and now you see what happened. I apologize again.

The positive side of this- is when you fall in the middle of the road, people stop for you. Thats about the only thing. I cant even dial a phone, I forget how. It really messes you up. It happened when I had one of my fusions. I have 4. They overdosed me on fentanyl at the hospital and brought me back when I flat lined. Apparently I have permanent brain damage. The meds helps, but that day, I forgot. It isnt fun.

You don't need to apologize - just take care of yourself as a priority. I have seen some of your useful posting before, and have posted alongside of you, also. You are very intelligent and perceptive. If you feel the need to post at this site, with something you believe would add to the Zodiac debate, then go right ahead. My only advice would be to stay focused and keep to one topic or aspect of the case, at a time.
Contributions from you, I'm sure would be welcome in the future. A passion to the '' cause '', is usually to the benefit of a greater knowledge.
