Headlines again , from The Sunday Post two days :
''Emma Caldwell Murder : Pressure escalates on Crown Office''
But , the supposition from The Sunday Post is , whether or not suspect Iain Packer should be arrested , and stand trial .
Nonetheless, political pressure is now gathering , to put Emma's mother Margaret out of her misery , after a 16 year wait for justice .
Shadow justice secretary , Liam Kerr :
'' In a case serious and problematic as this,I would urge the police to leave no stone unturned .''
MSP Hugh Henry :
''If there is evidence The Lord Advocate must prosecute , if there is not then he owes it to Emma's family to explain that decision .''
MSP Elaine Smith :
'' The Lord Advocate must tell Emma's family what is happening and end their uncertainty .''
In response , The Crown Office said :
'' This is a live investigation and it would be inappropriate to comment .''
And from Police Scotland :
'' We have undertaken a significant amount of work re-investigating the whole case and surrounding events , and the team remains fully committed to catching Emma's killer .''

For the third weekend in a row , a Scottish newspaper highlights the case of murdered prostitute , Emma Caldwell , with her killer still to be arrested and charged , despite a Police report submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service almost three years ago , naming her probable perpetrator .
This time it was the Scottish edition of The Sun newspaper , laying claim that investigative TV journalist , Samantha Poling , has further evidence of sexual violence on women by a previous suspect in Emma's murder , Iain Packer .
The Sun newspaper , as with The Sunday Post , may be mistaken in pointing the finger of guilt at 49-year old Packer , but at least the pressure is being kept up , to ensure that there is a judicial resolution to this murder case , and justice seen for Emma Caldwell's mother , Margaret .

The Scottish newspapers The Herald and The Sunday Post both carry the story of Human Rights Lawyer Aamer Anwar's 8-Page scathing attack on the Crown Office and Lord Advocate James Wolffe's handling of The Emma Caldwell murder re-investigation , now six years old , with justice yet to be found for Ms.Caldwell , murdered 16 years ago .
Mr.Anwar , as lawyer representing Emma Caldwell's mother Margaret , accuses prosecutors of prolonging the grief and uncertainty for Margaret , with false hope and empty promises . In addition , that the Crown Office are '' unbelievably cynical and cruel '' , and demands a judicial inquiry.
A spokesman for the Crown Office has said : '' The desire to see matters resolved and questions answered is wholly understandable. An investigation is ongoing and a decision cannot be taken until it is complete .''

As reported in The Sunday Post, The Lord Advocate of Scotland James Wolffe, has resigned over matters believed to be related to the six-year re-investigation into the murder of Glasgow prostitute Emma Caldwell. Four years ago, when Wolffe succeeded Frank Mulholland, he assured Emma's mother Margaret that no stone would be left unturned, in efforts to ensure justice for Emma.
In a further political twist, Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf, who had failed in his promise to appoint a victims commissioner, has been replaced by Keith Brown, in a Scottish Government reshuffle.
The Scottish Labour leader, Anas Sarwar, has demanded that a newly appointed Lord Advocate makes justice for Emma Caldwell their priority.
Margaret Caldwell's lawyer Aamer Anwar, has yet to pass comment on these turn of events.

Dorothy Bain QC has now been given political backing to her nomination as the new Lord Advocate of Scotland. Her predecessor James Wolffe had occupied the role for four years, until resigning recently over matters including the failure, on a promise, to deliver justice in the 16 year-old saga of the murder of Glasgow prostitute, Emma Caldwell.
Politicians across the chamber of debate at Holyrood, called for Ms.Caldwell's and outstanding cases similar, to be made a priority, with Dorothy Bain's new tenure.
The Crown Office commented :
'' The Lord Advocate paid careful attention to the comments by all the party spokespeople....as Scotland's most senior prosecutor, she will act independently of politics and do her best to serve the people of Scotland.''

Following Margaret Caldwell's and Aamer Anwar's meeting with Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain QC this morning, Margaret, who is the mother of murder victim Emma Caldwell, stated that she has '' renewed hope for justice '' for her daughter now.
Emma, who was working as a prostitute in Glasgow, Scotland, went missing on April 5th 2005. Her body was discovered 6 weeks later, in woodland near Biggar, South Lanarkshire. Although reports are unconfirmed, Emma is believed to have been found naked, and subjected to a garrotting. Identical circumstances to both Carol Lannen and Elizabeth McCabe, in March 1979 and February 1980, at a site at Templeton Woods, Dundee - some 200 miles away.
Human Rights lawyer Aamer Anwar said that he and Margaret were '' very happy about how things went to-day '' in their meeting with Dorothy Bain who, is widely known for having successfully prosecuted notorious serial killer Peter Tobin.
Mr.Anwar added : '' Margaret has been made many promises by Lord Advocates and Police, but as the years passed by, hope faded. There should never be a time limit on justice and Margaret feels that she was betrayed.''
Mr.Anwar described the meeting with the new Lord Advocate, as '' A very detailed discussion ''.

In today's Sunday Post, media pressure returns to the 16 year old unsolved murder of Glasgow prostitute Emma Caldwell. The Sunday Post are now counting off the days ( 100 ) since the instalment of a new Lord Advocate ( Dorothy Bain QC ) - but seemingly no movement for the Crown Office to sanction a request for a suspect to be arrested in this high-profile murder case.
The Sunday Post's headlines : '' A new Lord Advocate but still no justice for Emma Caldwell ''.
Dorothy Bain QC had met with Emma's mother Margaret and Human Rights lawyer Aamer Anwar in July and, it emerges now that a further meeting had taken place earlier this month. But, as the Sunday Post disappointingly report, the Crown Office confirmed last week that no one has yet to be charged.

Human rights lawyer and legal representative for murder victim Emma Caldwell's mother Margaret, Aamer Anwar, though presently disinclined to make public any information received from the Crown Office, nonetheless has posted the following Tweet, together with a photograph of Emma Caldwell :
January 25th 2022
'' Looking to-day at the lies, delays, obstructions and a system which pulverises and patronises families fighting for justice in the hope they give up, sometimes you wonder what's the point. But the dead can't cry out for justice - it is the duty of the living to do so for them.''

Oh well...the ''powers that be'' have stopped me browsing at Mr Anwar's ''BlackLivesMatter'' Twitter site.
Fair enough - so be it on your own head. As I have intimated before, at this site, Express Newspapers have given me no reason to trust them and, would not be inclined to reveal whether I have been in contact with Mr Anwar, or not....anyway.
Despite obvious curiosity of a possible ''Zodiac Killer'' link to the murder re-investigation of Emma Caldwell, I am confident that the vast majority of onlookers are supportive of Mr Anwar in his efforts to assist Mrs Margaret Caldwell to find justice for her daughter, as a heinous crime in its own right.
Perhaps the ''powers that be'' might be prepared to accept some of the responsibility for the phenomenon of the murder of a young woman (Ms Caldwell) still awaiting justice, after nearly 17 years - despite the enormous media and political attention, and apparent resources invested.
History will not forget, nor forgive, if the ''powers that be'' fail to find a judicial solution to Ms Caldwell's case - and one trusts that the ''powers that be'' are literally working around the clock, 7 days a week, to put right this outstanding injustice.

As posted at ''Shoutbox'' Feb. 24th 2022 :
Breaking news : A 49 year old man has just been arrested in connection with the murder of Glasgow sex worker Emma Caldwell in April 2005. Ms Caldwell's murder re-investigation was announced shortly after that of Brenda Page's in February 2015 and, was implicated in a Police Scotland spying scandal, resulting in a number of public servant resignations and early retirements - including the ultimate dismissal of FBI Director James Comey. It is unclear what this means for the Zodiac case now.
The origins of a collection of case reviews, including Ms Caldwell's; Ms Page's and Joan Webster's (1981) go back to December 19th 2014, and a meeting between then Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland and FBI Director James Comey. As an initial observation, what remains of those case reviews, that is known beyond a reasonable doubt is the Zodiac was extorting Joan Webster's father George, and that Brenda Page was the object of the Zodiac's attention, in the ''Scotch Tape'' letter. Beyond this, the subject of the solution to the Zodiac's 1990 Celebrity Cipher. Sadly, two well-known journalists won't come clean ( eh, Mr Fagan ?). This breaking news is wonderful for Ms Caldwell's family, but nothing further pinned on the Zodiac, so far.

Further to the previous comments, the 49 year old man has been confirmed as Iain Packer, a known pimp to sex workers including Emma. Mr Packer had yet to be formally charged with an offence. Investigations remain ''ongoing''.

Glasgow's Daily Record are now claiming that Mr Packer has been ''charged'', and will appear at Glasgow's Sheriff's Court on Monday (Feb. 28th 2022). Charge unknown, with the Daily Record the only media outlet to claim this. ''Arrest'' - the only terminology used elsewhere..''
