In 1968,the 36th President of The United States,Lyndon Johnson,announced that he would not be running for a second term.Many were surprised.

As a journalist once wrote : ''If you upset the ''Mothers of America'',you are finished.''.Mr.Johnson had been responsible for sending too many ''Mother's sons'',to a country called Vietnam,who were never to return.He knew that he had upset these young men's mothers,and that his time was up.

A question was perhaps answered,last night,in the final debate between Presidential candidates,Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.Had Trump upset too many ''Mothers of America'' ? This time,over his ''locker room banter'',with regard to their daughters.

It appears that Trump had,at least,ridden the storm.Mr.Trump explained himself,and added that,''No one has more respect for women,than me...no one !''.It remains to be seen if he has been forgiven.

Many would have observed a much more polished performance from Mr.Trump.He remained ''Bullish'',but demonstrated that he,as a relative outsider,was coming to terms with ''this thing they call political debate''.Mrs.Clinton remained composed and ''professional''.Ironically,excelling in an area of the debate related to the issue of Abortion.Eloquently articulating her stance on the rights of mothers,on this,particularly emotive issue.

The final debate,many would have agreed,was a good advertisement for democracy ''in action''.And,the final three weeks of respective campaigns looks like being a more ''palatable'' period.

Donald Trump is trailing Hillary Clinton by,between 4% and 9%,in the opinion polls.It is clear that he is the candidate,having to do the chasing.But,this is not an insurmountable task,and he will have taken some consolation from the final debate,that some mothers may have forgiven him.

For one though,who was interviewed,after the debate,holding her head in her hands,she simply said : ''I hate this election.''.

I would say that your figures,are pretty accurate,Davb.Though,British health care is not related to personal taxation,except ''distantly'',in relation to State pensions.

The 4%-9% lead for Mrs.Clinton,was taken directly after the final debate.Perhaps less women have forgiven Mr.Trump,than initially assessed [?].

What an ''absolute expert'' informs us,is that Trump has to win Florida and Pennsylvania on Election Day,to have any chance of securing the Presidency.

One assumes that,deep down,Trump knows that the final two weeks of campaigning,is going to be an uphill battle.But strangely,these sorts of odds,can liberate a person.I suspect that Donald Trump will come across as quite a ''relaxed'' person,in the final fortnight [?].

The Election is Mrs.Cinton's - ''to lose'' [?].

American satirist,Rich Hall,recently commented :

''Accusing your political opponent of ''Beastiality''might be considered underhand - but if your opponent finds himself having to deny that he f**ks pigs,then you know that you have him beaten.''

Not so long ago,Mr.Donald Trump found himself in a situation,not so dissimilar,with the ''mysterious'' leaking of ''The Groping Tapes''.

But,he managed to pick himself up,and dust himself down.

With just eight States to be called,Trump has managed to pull off an unlikely victory,in the 2016 US Presidential Election.

Commiserations to Mrs.Clinton....''You're fired''.

Some extraordinary statistics on campaign funding,Davb.The disparity is quite glaring - about 5:1 - not least the quantity of dollars,of which Mrs.Clinton was able to avail herself [?].

It sort of puts into focus the power that the ''political establishment'' wield,and highlights even more,the malaise of their arrogance in believing they ''sit'' unchallenged,and immovable [?].

The Bush/Clinton ''dynasty'' has now been swept aside - perhaps of more significance,than Trump's ''stunning'' victory [?].Those in Washington that thought that they had a job for life,had better watch out - Mr.Trump comes armed with more than a brush and dustpan [!].He certainly intends to do some ''House cleaning''.

Yes,I think everyone is still reeling from what took place last night - whether it be tears of sadness - or the euphoria of a change to come.

Some interesting voting statistics have emerged,in Mr.Trump's victory over Mrs.Clinton.

Clearly,there was often controversy in some of Trump's rhetoric,on the campaign trail,particularly with respect to perceived ethnicity inferences.

As it turned out,it was African American voters who most conspicuously gave Trump a ''wide berth'',with only,at most,one in twelve,supporting the businessman turned politician.

Despite Trump's ''rumblings''[...and ramblings..] about the need to build a wall on the Mexican border,and suggestions of the deportation of illegal immigrants in large numbers,Trump still secured an average of two out of five of the Latino vote.

There is evidence that Trump held a solid Muslim vote,despite raising questions related to this religion.One can only assume that the generally accepted fear of religious fundamentalism,in any form,was a message taken by voters.

Given that it was always going to be the case that Trump would require a large white vote,in order to win,the question of how many women could he hope to attract,became more and more pertinent,following the leak of ''The Groping Tapes''.As it transpires,Trump did surprisingly well,securing more than 50% of the woman's vote in a number of States.

Trump's victory was a surprise to almost everyone,and many are still wondering how he managed to achieve it.Some observers have noted that,voters that are uncertain,will tend to choose the candidate,whom they consider appears to have the most human qualities - warts and all.

Mr.Trump will be the first person to understand that his tenure is probationary - and,at the behest of the people.Acquiring their confidence and faith in him to act in their best interests,will be his priority.

The ''showboating'' is over.

It's a fascinating voting system in the USA,with the Presidential Election.I presume that Electoral College numbers are based on population distribution [?] - but ''first past the post'',is quite ruthless,when a whole State is at stake.

For Mr.Trump,the State of Ohio,with 18 votes,was an early indicator,that he was in with a chance of winning.But,even the ''experts'',still didn't believe it,at the time [!].

Yes,7K is a hefty chunk for health insurance.Trump promises ''health reform'' - but so has almost every President,before him [?].Obama maintains he increased ''availability'' for another 2 million - but as you have indicated,he doesn't mean to say that it was free.

In the UK,free health is sometimes seen as a ''mixed blessing''.It certainly was a ''godsend'' for the less well off,post WW2 generation.But it can be fraught with problems of fair and consistent implementation.Currently,80% of the doctors are on one-day strikes over work conditions.They are fine with the pay - its being expected to work unrealistic hours.However,the system is still ''the envy of the world'' - or so we are told [!].

The UK came close to being the first major economy to be debt free - until ''Brexit'' came along,and they voted out of Europe.Trump promises to end this multi trillion debt economy in the US,based largely on gold reserves.

That could be the toughest goal,of all [?].
