Sorry if I misjudged your decision,Davb.
Because Zodiac's ciphers often look tantalizingly solvable, many get led astray, and believe that someone else must have the solution, paving the way for ''short cuts'',in their investigation.
With specialist subjects,it is almost always the case that the designated teacher, will make purchases,on behalf of the school.
I have a copy of the Brenda Haugen book. For beginners,it is excellent, and would recommend it,for the purpose of a general idea of what ''all the fuss was about'' [!].Once senses that Ms.Haugen, saw a ''need'' and a ''niche'',and provided an unpretentious introduction to the case.
But,many others just hitch a lift on the bandwagon, with the sole intention of making a buck,of ''easy'' money.
I don't really believe, for example, that Mr.Thomas Horan is a true ''nihilist'' on the existence of Zodiac. Here is a case [....and not a basket case [!]...]of a Zodiac enthusiast, bereft of ideas, and frustrated at not being able to come to terms with the existence of a truly enigmatic psychopath.
So he hits on the idea of becoming a particularly controversial ''conspiracy theorist''.He writes two books;makes a few waves, and finds his niche within the Zodiac ''arena''.But as time goes on,and Law Enforcement appear still prepared to hunt down this real individual, called Zodiac,Mr.Horan's theories begin to look a bit ''tired'' and ''old hat''.In addition,Mr.Horan finds that he is dependent on those, who largely ''believe'',for his income, and a purpose in life.
Conspiracy Theorists who theorize, just for the sake of staking their claim,on an ''angle'' to a particular case, are INTELLECTUALLY LAZY !
And ought to know better.

I don't think many will buy his book after viewing tell YouTube video he has. Total crap , over 1/2 of symbols not used trying to deconstruct this cipher blindly is like trying to catch a big fish by casting a bare hook into the water and reeling it in.

I am interested in different attempts to solve the 340-symbol cipher.
It may be useful to compare the different attempts to find out which ones use a better method (even if they are not successful).
The correct solution may only be obtained after many trial-and-error attempts.
Any constructive ideas about how to solve the 340-symbol cipher are welcomed.

Michael D.Sechrest, author of ''Zodiac Code : Solved'',is offering $10,000 to the first reader to submit ''...a more viable homophonic substitution key...'' as a solution to Zodiac's 340 cipher.
I have not read Mr.Sechrest's book.
But,with head on the line,I have news for Mr.Sechrest.
Zodiac did not exclusively employ homophonic substitution,as a method of solution,in his 340 cipher.
In addition,Zodiac did not utilise the whole Alphabet.Just 15,of the 26 alphabetic letters,as it transpires.
How do I know ?
The answer will be coming to this site, shortly.
''All the King's horses...''.

Let each reader submit a solution to the 340-symbol cipher and claim the $10,000.00 reward. Then let a jury decide which solution is the most viable.

That's an interesting idea,Ricardo.
I am always in favor of encouraging others to try to reveal anything of the legacy of Zodiac's secrets.
Perhaps I should be humble enough,to hold back from discussing my journey,on how I ''stumbled upon'' Zodiac's ''340'' solution.
It certainly didn't happen ''overnight'',and strangely, must thank Zodiac, for his lucidity at the time of constructing his cipher.I believe that it mean't pride to him, after the ''humiliation'' of the ''408''.
Rubislaw 32's solution is now in the hands of the FBI.They are presumed to be experts in this field.
Zodiac's ''340'' cipher represents a direct ''vehicle'' for Extortion. And an indirect one for Murder.
Hopefully, the FBI will share their findings with the general public, soon [?].
