Too much of the ''340'' is ''anagramic'' - a euphemism for Zodiac for being pot-headed,at the time.
Nevertheless, the third line is,unquestionably, A CURSE OF OAK ISLAND.
So,if anyone wishes to do some research on this famed island off the Canadian East Coast, there is much of interest - including a cipher stone, claiming that ''Two million pounds is buried here ''.
It appears that Zodiac went to a paid talk on the subject - perhaps in San Francisco [?].More research potential, there.

Deciphering the shambolic ''340'' is both a chore and a pleasure - you never know what might emerge.Looks like Herb Caen receives a sarcastic mention.
The fifth line is CASE ANY CLUE SENDS A .
That's it for now.

Before I disappear,If I might venture to suggest advice to anyone tackling the ''340'':
i] Do have a go - it really hasn't been solved yet.
ii] Any advantages I hold, are through studying advanced algebra - but really, the most able bodied people are those who regularly solve crossword puzzles.
iii] Zodiac did start, and finish the ''340 '' with predictable words.
First word : NICE
Last word : AFTERLIFE
Good Luck.

I don't know,but it looks like a load of ''b-ll--cks'',to me.Or rather, $39.95 worth of ''b-ll--cks''.
For one thing, the ''1980 Celeb postcard'' is actually The 1990 Celebrity Cipher. We know this, because the Marianne Moore postage stamp used on the postcard format, wasn't issued until 1990.
But,as the saying goes : ''You pays your money, you takes your chance.''
Anyone else,with an opinion ?

That site now gives his solution to the 408 remainder cipher

Post by Davb on Nov 15, 2016 19:47:23 GMT -8
he only had to add letters to the 408 code key to make the key work on the 340 and other ciphers and rotate using different symbols to make it look as if he used a completely different key
I see the comma as a help as to what those 2 symbols after it would be
whats youre take on the remainder solving @ zodiacciphersresolved.com ? he now gives

I have had one more look at that ''zodiacciphersresolved'' site,Davb.
The person,or ''confidence trickster'',hasn't got the first idea about exclusivity of substitution.
If we take the remainders,''EBEORIETEMETHHPITI'',as an example :
The first ''E'' equates to ''Z''
The second ''E'' equates to ''D''
The third ''E'' equates to ''I''
The fourth ''E'' equates to ''H''
The fifth ''E'' equates to ''R''
Its ''Holy nonsense'' !!
In addition, the same person thinks that the Celebrity Cypher emerged in 1980,and yet, even if there was debate over the postmark, the Marianne Moore postage stamp wasn't issued, until 1990.
And,that's just to start with....
If I could be bothered,I would report this site owner to the cops. This is ''attempting to procure monies,by deception or false means''.
In the words of President Elect,Donald Trump : ''She ought to be locked up.''

I say very clever .... the common used letters have to have multiple symbols or you could see the wording of the ciphers easily ,open up your thinking Rubislaw . E, usually the most used letter in any sentence would have or need the most symbols . this way it is nearly impossible to determine the common vowels ,which is a big piece to solving ciphers
you would have to buy the cipher to do / know what you stated ..... and it sounds like thats not happening , seriously cops don't mess with this

Yes,that's true about the cops.It would depend if this person ruins lives [?].Like Zodiac, himself !
I certainly take your point about the ''remainders'' - upside down and ''mirror imaged'' - lots of ''get out clauses'' for the author of this horrible site.
We could always contact Mr.Trump, for help on this matter [?].

I see a credible solution to the remainder here , he gives some explanation to how he arrived at it the reverse image , for not displaying a vulgar message to children ? the zodiac is a big essay theme for 8th grade kids , has been for decades
still waiting for one for the NOBLE PLEASURE X3 ( credible reasoning solution)

That's really interesting about Zodiac becoming incorporated into school studies....as a sort of forerunner to ''Humanities'',I presume [?].
I have heard that ''he'' is being studied in some tertiary education courses, now.Particularly criminology related.
Yes,anything that awful site comes up with, would not surprise me.It would be different,if the author was offering the information for free - then one could just ''take it or leave it''.But being down 40 bucks, for the ''uninitiated'' - and still none the wiser, does demand some sympathy.
Hope readers will spread the word [?].There is a quite ''laughable'' warning,I see, that one should be prepared for the author's 340 solution [?].In that it may contain words that are derogatory to the gay community [?].
Does that mean that we should swallow a couple of Valium, before we indulge ourselves ?
With respect to ''Noble pleasure'',or the Rubislaw 32 solution,it really doesn't matter,if others are not convinced. It is ''what it is'',and have attempted to explain it,as much as I am able.Law Enforcement have had access to it,for about two years now,and there are indications that it has made an impact on their investigations. Not least, that ''A Zodiac'' has acquired usable French Language, and has probably traveled extensively, after 1974.Most probably,a stay in Western Europe,if not France itself.
Having put the solution into the public domain [...with thanks to Ricardo....],I feel more free to consider other so called unconfirmed correspondences, some of which relating to the Celebrity Cypher.
Think...''Robert E.Lee'',and you will have, not only Zodiac's personal secret nickname, but the key to much of his antics.

In fairness,I suppose,to Davb's inference, and what has been offered to Law Enforcement - ''they'' are aware of ''other factors'',in the ''whole equation''.
This would include specific primary motive of Zodiac, including details to substantiate.
But nothing is a given,in this life, and resources that Law Enforcement are willing to invest, should be allowed a free run, with no extra interference [?].
Looking at the case of The Zodiac Killer,as a whole,a number of factors came together,to create, what can only be described as a ''Great American Tragedy''.These include WW2,and the ''circumstances'' of movement of people;Teenage delinquency;abuse of library facilities;and the fascination with motor cars.
What makes the case, perhaps, almost surreal,is that all these ''factors'' came together in the very place that happened to be,for that brief moment in history, the artistic and cultural center of the world.
San Francisco.
As the saying goes : ''You just couldn't make this stuff up.''.

I don't see $40 being a dasterdly deed, if he has a very good solution & code key that gives this solution. Guess Rubislaw never bought a Grisham . Patterson , Coons crime novel for $25-30 ,either I beleive every Z cipher has a rather simple solution

Ah ! Just as I guessed,you gave into temptation,and handed over 40 ''Big ones'',Davb.
Naughty boy !
Anyone who charges money [apart from postage],is part of the ''low life'' set, that look to profit from ''the gullible''.
Entirely your choice, and respected,in that alone.
But supposed ''scientific knowledge'' has no copyright, and anyone that seeks to profit, has no scruples - nor integrity.
I cannot see any teacher, ever electing to pay such website fees, for the benefit of imparting information to their pupils.
Much better idea to pay a few dollars for Mr.Hewitt's new book - and I haven't even read it [!].
