The zodiac sure gives the appearance of a group of men not an individual. The main and Napa composites clearly show two different men . I know the limp , but I say that is just something they happend to have in common IMO it is three or a few more , and one at least a college grad. ,likely not either of those "Three little maids are we"

Yes,the whole case can become a bit mind boggling.Particularly, when witness observations, from different crimes, don't seem to tally [?].
As an overview, and in light of The FBI Files available,Federal L.E. see it as one Zodiac Killer,''armed and dangerous''.But then, one could argue, that is why they got involved,in the first place - that there was enough evidence to suggest that a single serial killer was responsible [?].
I think that most people that take an interest in the whole case, start with the general notion of one man....then,begin to assess the chances of more than one, with perhaps, the concept of something akin to a ''Dare Club'' of sordid weirdos [?].
When ''types'' of crime materialize, that are unsolved, one of the first things to happen,is that similar unsolved crimes are ''pulled from the files'' for comparison [?].On a basis of geography, alone,The Betty Aardsma case is unlikely to be a Zodiac crime.Equally, the notion of a ''Dare Club'' that reaches across the whole of the USA.A crime syndicate targeting students to defraud them of money, may be one thing, but to brutally murder pretty and intelligent young women would,to an extent, defy logic [?].
Personally,I still go with one Zodiac, and believe that ''contrasts'' in witness observations, amounts to ''normal'' variances in peoples interpretation,at differing times, and in differing circumstances.''Zodiac'' himself, claimed that his intention was to always look different, and perhaps, his disguises were well conceived [?].
Yes,those ''Three little maids'' may yet emerge to have a ''poetic'' connotation [?].One married girl [Yum-Yum],and two single.Darleen Ferrin, plus Betty Lou Jensen and Cecilia Shepard [?].

These ''observed features'',are always ''as reported'',and can rarely be verified, without any doubts,at all [?].Sometimes two different people are reported as being the same person.
At Presidio Heights, there is even some doubt that, apart from ''the teens'' witnessing ''Zodiac'',from above, that anyone else, including cops, actually witnessed him,at all....and that comes from the cops, themselves.Plus ''aspects'' that are overlooked, like undulating terrain and streetlighting and shadows [?].
At Lake Berryessa, three young women ''probably'' witnessed ''Zodiac'',a couple of hours before the attack. Two claimed him to be ''mid-twenties'',with the third [in the same group],believed him to be ''closer to forty''.Strangely, the one person that might have been able to give the best description, was killed in a freak ''tradesman's'' accident, before he was able to give further details.
Height of ''Zodiac''has always remained the most contentious issue.Estimates range from 5Ft 8in to 6Ft 2in.A huge discrepancy. Many that actually got close, were judging from the sitting height of a motor car,or like ''the teens'' at Presidio Heights, from a second floor balcony/window.
The few examples, just given, could indeed, also support suggestions,as you have mentioned,Davb, that there were more than one Zodiac.
The initial conclusion appears to be that ''we just don't know''...but should nevertheless,be swayed by Law Enforcement's inclination, that there was just one Zodiac [?].
Otherwise, this San Francisco phenomenon, might have been called ''The case of the Zodiac Killers ''.
