I saw this a few years ago 13? surfing zodiac and this place came up,I believe it was on the water of the bay in Crokett or a bit E of there, across from ,S across the water from Benicia It said a landmark since the early 70s , cant find it on the net now , the Zodiac astrology was huge then so not that out of the normal

One reason I think it is relevant to Z K This restaurant was in a older building like from early 60s tudor style white with dark fake frame work and was the style business 1st story ,residence 2nd story I thought it was on a rd. San ___ ,it sat on the bay side of the road or highway really ( it showed 3 pics of the place, I think this was a Yelp ad ) showed a large deck on the rear, upstairs looking out on the bay,it was 20 ft above the water and 70ft back. there ws a dock for small boats and on the dock a small building had a drivers flag sign , maybe a divers supply shop or just a divers storage shed or tank refill? when was the zodiac killer associated letter that mentioned SCUBA ? I remember it Thats a odd coincedence

Davb, I really don't remember that restaurant and I use to go to Crocket often. It is such a nice little town with lots of good restaurants and shops.I had a boyfriend in the 1970's who owned the garbage company in Crocket, so during that time I was there often. There is a way of getting information about the restaurant from old city directories and phone books. I would like to see pictures of it and find out who the owner was?
Zodiac has a huge ego and more than likely would have gone to that restaurant. I have no doubt he went to the Coronado Inn, Flamingo Joe's, Melody Lounge, Elbow Room, Jacks Hang out,Terry's, Mr ED's, all in Vallejo and Chris's club in Benicia. If I find out about that restaurant in Crocket, I will post it. Thanks for that information.

Thanks ,thats great . I had the link on favorites back then ,but the pc crashed. It looked as if it was the w end building of a strip of businesses ,it could have been a rental apt. Upstairs I think it was restaur / bar Then too Ive looked on satelite maps and seems like every thing has been revitilized I will look for the Z letter that talked of SCUBA It may have been farther E of Crocket

I went today to the recorders office to look up the Z restaurant, but they don't keep things past 20 yrs. The next stop will have to be the assessors office, they keep things longer. I am interested in the scuba letter, because I though I have read all of the Z's letters and don't remember that one? I do know that the Zodiac watch was worn by scuba divers.

It was at least 2011 when I saw it , looking just the other day I see there was a Zodiac bar in SF midtown area ,until they changed the name, they might know of it , possible conflict in licensing I think Z may have dived with ALA heard him rant about his zodiac story and then did just what he said knowing ALA would be a target , it is a bad choice to dive alone

You could be correct in thinking that Z knew Allen and may have dove with him. Z could have been more friendly back then? Today however , the man I believe is Z isn't a friendly person, more standoffish.
I do think that there could have been things planted at Allen's home like the bomb making materials. I have felt that Allen thought it would be funny to play into the possibility of him being the Zodiac. He had no idea of course that in the end it would bite him in the butt!
Something that I feel is important to remember, everyone who saw Zodiac said he was a short stocky man ( Not fat), that he had brown hair, either in a Pompadour, curly or crew cut.
Allen was almost totally bald, tall and he was fat!
The only time that Z "appeared taller" , was when he had on a stiff hood that was a few inches above his head. Zodiac did not have a body like Allen, Gyke or Marshall.

See rubislaws last post on -zodiac watch ads - where he sent a letter to the SF Chron 7/19/78 that mentions SCUBA and diving. Where this restaurant was ,was steep terrain with RR tracks close to the water man I would bet it connects to Z

What you have described sounds just like Vera's Villarona near Crocket ( It is the Dead Fish now) it over looks the water and there were railroad tracts back then. But is was Vera's back in the 60's, I went there often. There was a Zodiac club, but that one was on the way to Sacramento which had to do with a unsolved murder, Carol Hilburn I think? That was a bar , I don'r think it had food? Not surprising how many businesses had the name Zodiac back then.

Did you blow the picture up so you can read the sign? It reads The Nantucket.

View AttachmentI title it as restaurant but the image from the 70s was the Zodiac bar, upstairs ,I think was the 2nd story part of the building This is a little Nantucket History: Dowrelio Family owned it first. Then sold it to an oil company contractor. Around 1970, The Original Nantucket was started, by some Diablo Valley Jr. College Graduate’s. Then the Harbor Owners, Ken & Jackie Craver took over. There’s was. Toots Bar in Crockett. But a Zodiac Bar??
