I was quite taken aback the other week when I was researching general murders that may have occurred in and around Pacific Heights, namely the Presidio Heights area, in the 60's and 70's and came across a murder that occurred on the Presidio Army Base itself exactly one year earlier on October 11, 1968 almost to the minute.
It's been mentioned in connection with the Zodiac case at other sites so it's not big or new news for most. But for anyone who wasn't aware of it, here's one article:

Makes you wonder did Zodiac pick Oct 11 as a random date and the Predisio of SF as a random location to commit his final confirmed act where at around 9:45pm On Oct 11 of 1968, Private R. Bunch was shot and killed attempting to escape from work duty as a POW having gone AWOL from the Army? Or did Zodiac pick this day and time and place as a deliberate reference to the anniversary of Richard Bunch's death?

I was looking for the name of the guard who killed Private Richard "Rusty" Bunch.
The guard’s name was not reported.

I saw a newspaper article in 2011?,I think it was the SF Examiner surfing the net about Jackson & maple st's as I remember about residents there around the U drive ,that wanted to close off that U drive some way ,as hookers and johns would do there business in it , or couples , and druggies , but were denied any resolution like they wanted . one example they gave of the trouble was in Jan of 68 a couple was parked there and a man just came up and shot the man driving , killing him no robbery attempt ,said nothing and shot , police thought this woman set up the man but she said she ran away nearly being shot too.
