Well, I am not one to sound my own trumpet usually but if you go back to one of the threads on Morf's site from around 18 Months ago then the topic of JTR was brought up and discussed and I said that I believed Jack was Polish Immigrant Aaron Kosminski, and my reasons for this belief were that police had stood down so soon after the final confirmed Jack murder and declared officially 'The streets of Whitechapel are safe to walk again' but never actually said how or why they could say this. But around that time, shortly after the 4th and final Jack murder, Kosminski was confined to an insane asylum so the police must have known who he was. And now, DNA proves it was Aaron Kosminski. The British Paper 'The Mail' quotes:
"A shawl found by the body of Catherine Eddowes, one of the Ripper’s victims, has been analysed and found to contain DNA from her blood as well as DNA from the killer.
The landmark discovery was made after businessman Russell Edwards, 48, bought the shawl at auction and enlisted the help of Dr Jari Louhelainen, a world-renowned expert in analysing genetic evidence from historical crime scenes.
Using cutting-edge techniques, Dr Louhelainen was able to extract 126-year-old DNA from the material and compare it to DNA from descendants of Eddowes and the suspect, with both proving a perfect match.
The revelation puts an end to the fevered speculation over the Ripper’s identity which has lasted since his murderous rampage in the most impoverished and dangerous streets of London. "
126 Years it took for technology to unmask the dark and World Famous Jack, there is hope for Zodiac yet!

I actually have family connections to the ripper case. and can tell you with 100% confidence it's related to the royal line of enquiry and one individual girl who had family in the states and the welshman who was looking for her. it involves the Tudor lineage and blackmail and a new journalist from America who knew about the lineage who helped either jack or the girl.

Fascinating, johnlee, and thanks for your information. It will be interesting to see if there are further follow-ups to this.
The case belongs to the London Metropolitan Police, and one presumes their word will be the final one on this.
The last time they were particularly outspoken was with Patricia Cornwell, about 20 years ago. Walter Sickert was a gifted artist, but a compulsive doodler, and leaver of written notes, wherever he went. A general perception is that the ''MET'' view the Ripper and main letter-writer as two different people.
And, neither are Sickert.
