Been thinking about this comment "Some of them fought, it was horrible" that was pasted onto a questioned (Some subscribe to the card as authentic, others do not) Zodiac PostCard and I think it possibly has substance to it. It's possible, even plausible that, based on the post-mortem examination results, he's referring to David Farraday. The coroner reported finding a swelling on Davids jaw area and a mark on his neck. The slight swelling on his jaw showed no signs of grazing marks so it's unlikely this swelling was caused by David falling face first onto the gravel after being shot.
We know that Zodiac was one to learn from his mistakes, after hanging up the phone after his Blue Rock incident, it immediately began to ring drawing attention to him and his car. After Lake Berryessa's double stabbing, he phones police but this time does not hang the receiver back up, he simply drops it letting it dangle.
At Blue Rock his first shot was fires directly at Mike's head to immediately incapacitate him. Zodiac himself freely admits this in his letter by offering: "The boy was originally sitting in the front seat when I began firing. When I fired the first shot at his head, he leaped backwards at the same time thus spoiling my aim. He ended up on the back seat then the floor in back thashing out very violently with his legs; thats how I shot him in the knee." Had he learned from his error in allowing David Faraday the chance to challenge him physically? He did the same with Hartnell. He ordered Cecelia to bind him and render him incapable of fighting back before he approached and stabbed him and when he did go to re-tie Bryan's restraints, Bryan noted that Zodiac was physically shaking and Bryan questioned him asking was he nervous? Z replied by saying with a nervous laugh "Yeah, something like that."
Same with Paul. After police publically said the killer had a hatred for the women more so than the men (based on the two Male's surviving the two attacks while their female counterparts did not), Zodiac responded by going after a single male this time. Even so, the way in which he attacked Paul was cowardly, a shot to the head which, no doubt, Paul never saw coming.
The fact that both Bryan & Michael survived is nothing to do with Zodiac saving his wrath for Cecelia & Dee more so than them. I have even seen some claim that Zodiac did not intend to kill Bryan & Mike and wanted them to live which is ridiculous considering he shot Mike several time hitting him once in the face, and stabbed Bryan 5 or 6 times in the back with a kitchen type knife. The fact that none of the stabs from the knife penetrated Bryans vital organs & major arteries is simply sheer luck and nothing to do with Zodiac lacking the intent to kill him because he is male.
But back to Faraday. We know it was reported that many of Faradays school friends were going out to LHR that night, what we don't know is, why? Had David agreed to fight the young man who was pestering Betty-Lou for a date, or any other person? It would explain why he & Betty were out of the vehicle. It could also explain why David had taken his class ring off his finger if a fist fight was taking place. Just theorising obviously, we'll probably never know for certain.

Just with regard to Betty Lou and David Faraday's last evening :
David had told his sister Debbie, that he and Betty Lou were going to congregate with friends at LHR.Betty Lou had told her mother that she and David were going to San Francisco for the evening.
What actually appears to have transpired is that David and Betty Lou visited Betty Lou's girlfriend Sharon for 40 minutes, until 9.00p.m.They turned down an invitation to a party that Sharon was going to,later that evening.
After visiting Sharon,David and Betty Lou went to a local eatery called the Pancake House on Tenessee Street, where they happened to bump into a friend of David's called Mark.Mark later reported to the police that David got into an altercation with an ''acquaintance '',whom David had seen dealing Marijuana.Only Mark and the police know what transpired, but it is known that David had been threatened by this ''acquaintance'',after David had ''threatened'' to call the cops.
So it looks like LHR represents a ''lover's lane'' cooling off destination for David and Betty Lou,after a nasty incident involving David, that may have involved physical violence [?].
Such is fate.

As an appendage to the previous post :
The LHR informal car park was generally known to be used by maintenance workers at the water pumping house - but also casual fishermen and dog walkers,by day.At night by ''illicit'' lovers and teenagers hanging out.
Clearly, the Marijuana dealer would have been the police's first suspect, with respect to the murders of David and Betty Lou.There was also a school friend of Betty Lou called Ricky, who had been bothering Betty Lou,at that time. But both Ricky and the dealer were cleared quite early in police investigations.
On the evening in question,a car possibly matching Zodiac's was seen an hour before the murders parked on an embankment that neighbors the LHR car park.
One senses that the police believe that Zodiac was actually stalking the LHR car park, that evening, waiting for a solitary vehicle to use it.
David and Betty Lou were just unlucky [?].

Further information on events of the evening of Fri.Dec 20 1968 [...contrary to ''Global Moderator's '' counter claim,Betty Lou ''did'' tell her mother, that she and David intended to visit SF,that evening.]
The evening in question experienced record local temperatures of around -2 degrees centigrade. The significance of this was that crime scene investigators were unable to discern, neither tire tracks from Zodiac's vehicle, nor footprints in the gravel left by Zodiac or Betty Lou.
An estimated one hour before the LHR crime,a young man named William Crowe, drove into the car park, accompanied by a girlfriend. The purpose of which, was to check the faulty carburetor on his new sports car.At this point,a car later described by Mr.Crowe,as a blue and chrome Plymouth Valiant, drove past in the direction of Vallejo. However, the driver elected to stop abruptly, and reversed the car,as if to ''view'' Mr.Crowe.Shortly after, the Valient's driver proceeded towards Vallejo, again.
Once Mr.Crowe and his girlfriend rejoined the road in the direction of Benicia, they shortly realized that the Valient was following them, with its driver, clearly having turned his car around.Mr.Crowe elected to increase his speed, with the result of the Valient doing likewise.Eventually,Mr.Crowe turned off LHR towards Benicia specifically, and the Valient just sped past them.
Another pointer,perhaps,that Zodiac was ''loitering'',with motorcar,in that general vicinity,during the evening [?].

Returning to the general theme of this section from WelshChappie, regarding the violence inflicted upon the victims :
Michael Mageau and Darlene Ferrin specifically :
As with the other three crimes of violence, the male was ''attended to'' first.Zodiac's first bullet hit Mageau in the neck, believed to be a ''head shot'' missed. This sent Mageau backwards, clearing a view of Ferrin, who received the same bullet to her right arm.
The second bullet hit Darlene in the right arm again, and traveled through hitting her left arm, also. The third bullet hit Darlene in the right arm,yet again, and she slumped forward on to the steering wheel.
Zodiac then turned his weapon back to Mike, and shot him in the hips. The fifth shot was directed at Darlene, who received a bullet in her back.
Zodiac second visit :
The sixth bullet hit Mike in the left leg, with the seventh his shoulder. Then,as it seems, the coup de grace to Darlene : The eighth and final ninth bullet, both into Darlene's back.
Investigator's believe that Zodiac intended to take Mike out with his first shot - but it ended up becoming almost indiscriminate.

Hi there,
I had been looking into the police records recently on Betty Lou & David and the one thing that struck me is that Ricky's Brother in law Luther who he was known to ride about with had a light blue car with paint coming off it, when the Police ask Luther what he drives he tells them a white van but the witness Brenda states he drives a light blue car.
The light blue car was seen at both LHR & BRS and I wonder if Luther was ever looked into and followed up on. Ricky's family gave him an alibi as it was his sisters birthday but when asked what they had been watching that night they all said they had been watching a film with Bob Hope but LE found out there was no Bob Hope movie on that night and that they had got the actor wrong. It troubles me that so many people would get the actor wrong if they had watched the film.
