Certainly some strange coincidences media-related recently, davb3, and a probable '' I knew '' letter link to the December 11th 2020 FBI tweet, brings up the further probability that the Zodiac was responsible for at least the 5th letter ( out of six confirmed ) previously attributed to Dan Cooper.
Then Case Breaker leader, and high-profile D B Cooper sleuth Tom Colbert, jumps into the deep-end, with his weight behind the Gary Poste claim, and already known bad-blood associations with the FBI over the '' Robert Rackstraw was Dan Cooper ''claim.
It's almost as if Mr Colbert is making his final stand, in his frustrations with the FBI who, Colbert sees as starting to take away authenticity of Dan Cooper letters from the D B Cooper case - and handing them over to ownership of the Zodiac Killer.
Although the FBI have been swift to refute the '' Gary Poste was the Zodiac Killer '' claim, I suspect that the FBI received a bit of a '' sting in the tail '' jolt from Tom Colbert.

A peace offering from the FBI to Tom Colbert ?
As has now been noted, the FBI have, as of November 1st 2021, released a new D B Cooper File ( File 64 ) of some 411 pages.
It is well-known that Mr Colbert and the FBI have had disputes in the past over information that Mr Colbert believes that the FBI have suppressed, with respect to the case of skyjacker Dan Cooper.
This newly released file documents, in fine detail, a number of aspects to the case, including relayed messages between the pilot and Dan Cooper, and how the FBI initially galvanised and organized official searches immediately after the crime had been committed. Interestingly, a report on the recovery of a parachute canopy from Reed Island in the Columbia river, in 2001 ( 15 miles east of Portland ).
Sadly for followers of the Zodiac Killer case, I might suggest, merely a single page offered on letter-writing, with regard to a typed letter, in January 1972. But, at at least it is confirmed that the FBI are of the opinion that the author of typed letters by someone claiming to be D B Cooper, used a Corona Electric portable typewriter ( Page 265 ).

Good to see that, in visiting Mr Colbert's '' The Last Master Outlaw '' website, devoted to promoting the notion that Robert Rackstraw was Dan Cooper, that any mention of Gary Francis Poste, is no longer in evidence.
A push to steal the limelight on the Zodiac Killer case with Colbert's Case Breaker team, appears to have been completely swept aside, and all hands back on deck, with Robert Rackstraw taking centre stage once again.
Of interest among the reams of detailed and well-presented evidence, is a line-up of six photos selected, with which to offer passenger-victim of Dan Cooper's hijacking, Billy Mitchell. Mr Mitchell plumped for the photo of Robert Rackstraw, as the man he believed he witnessed as the hijacker.
The other choices offered to Mr Mitchell, included surprisingly, one of the two notorious London gang-land twins of the 1960's - Reggie Kray.

As a general comment on the new (64th) D B Cooper file, what I found of particular interest is that Dan Cooper smoked Raleigh cigarettes, and heavily, for most of his hijacking subjection of passengers and crew. It has now been revealed that he was careful to stub the cigarettes out in one particular (seat ?) ashtray and, it is therefore presumed that he took his cigarette butts with him, when electing to jump from the aircraft.
As far as I am aware, when Mr Colbert succeeded in forcing the FBI to explain themselves to a court of law, in denial that they were deliberately denying Mr Colbert case information, their defence was/is that :
i) The FBI remain of the opinion that they neither know nor don't know whether Dan Cooper survived his jump from the 727 jet airliner.
ii) The FBI are of the opinion that they hold a DNA profile of the man who claimed to be Dan Cooper, which they garnered from Cooper's dress-tie left behind in the aircraft. And further, that they have yet to find a DNA match to this profile, which includes the profile of Robert Rackstraw.
The court found in favour of the FBI.
