In addition, that a single ''capital N'' is presented in ''mirror image'' form. It may or may not be significant that “By KИiFE” has two things different from the other three. (1) The letter “N” is a mirror image. (This is the only letter which is obviously a mirror image. The letter "N" is not a mirror image in the word "GUN".) and (2) The letter “y” is under the letter “B”. (The letter “y” is on the right of the letter “B” for the other three.) B y K И i F E

Very interesting observations from Ricardo.
Indeed,Ricardo,it did strike me as more than a coincidence, that Zodiac has ''selected'' the ''i's'' and ''y's'' to be in lower case form - with all other alphabetic letters presented as capitals. As you have posted, there is some history of ''interchangeability'' between ''i's'' and ''y's''- both literally and phonetically - and in the origins of a few languages.
It is possible that ''By Knife'' has different significance to the other three ''by's'' - but difficult to ascertain what this could be,if actually different [?].
I would suggest that any further clues or solutions are to be found in ''imagery'' - i.e that we accept that the whole ensemble is a ''presentation statement'',and start looking for ''similar imagery''.Perhaps a picture of the cross of the crucifixion surrounded by ''Father,Son and Holy Ghost'' [?].
My first port of call, here, would be the paintings of William Blake - Composer,Engraver,Writer and Painter of Christian imagery.

Having viewed ''The complete works of William Blake''at the official website, there is a painting called ''Crucifixion'',which is very close,in imagery,to the Slaves/Paradice ''ensemble''.
It is possible that Zodiac was influenced by this painting - then added ''The Wheel of Fortune'' references, already established.
If any member is able to post ''Crucifixion'',it would appreciated.

You are opening up some new portals to explore for the reader to solve the “mini puzzles”... I see where you are going now. Years ago, Michael D. Brown suggested that the Zodiac killer could have been inspired by Vala, or the Four Zoas, the book written by William Blake. There has been other speculation about the poetry by William Blake and the Zodiac killer. Besides being a poet, William Blake was also a painter. And now you have found a painting by William Blake which is somewhat similar in composition to the design of the words written by the Zodiac killer on the back of the Halloween card. It could be a possible inspiration.

Thanks for that,Ricardo. Its great that you have managed to post Blake's ''The Crucifixion''.
Blake's imagery and words are very provocative [?],and it does seem likely that they left an impression on Zodiac.

...another ''little'' addition...Blake was commissioned to create ten illustrations for Milton's ''Paradise Lost''.

There are,of course, many crucifixion depictions - but Blake's ''Christ Nailed to the Cross : The Third hour''is unique,in that it places Jesus's cross central to the composition, with ''content'' in each of the four ''quadrants''.This is precisely as Zodiac laid out his ''alphabetic'' composition on the back of The Halloween card.
What is traditionally consistent with all crucifixion pictures ? The alphabetic letters ''INRI''placed at the very top of the cross.
''INRI'' stands for : Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaeorvm [Standard Latin]
: Jesus Nazarenus Rex Judaeorum [Anglo Latin]
: ''Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews'' [English]
In James Joyce's ''Ulysses''[1922],a character called ''Molly'' refers to ''INRI'' as ''IRON NAILS RAN IN'' [...bullets,perhaps [?]...].
With reference to the alphabetic composition on the back of The Halloween card :
''By'' has a Russian equivalence of ''VU'' [...perhaps,just a coincidence...]
The mirror image of ''N'' has a Russian equivalence of ''i'' [....again,just a coincidence [?].

Now here's [just] a thought, with regard to the inside of The Halloween Card :
Based on the Bell system of standardization of local phone numbers in Canada and USA,between 1958 and 1983,a ''typical Mr.Smith's'' personal phone number might look like this :
8-7272
If Mr.Smith was from [VA]llejo, then his designated phone number would be :
VA8-7272
The first two digits can be obtained from the following standard table :
Dialed Digit Letters ---------------------- 2 ABC 3 DEF 4 GHI 5 JKL 6 MNO 7 PRS 8 TUV 9 WXY 0 Z
So,Mr.Smith's seven digit phone number would be : 828-7272
----------------------------------------------------------
Now,we take the example of Mr.Zodiac :
His personal phone number looks like this :
4-TEEN
Since Mr.Zodiac is from [BE]nicia, then his designated phone number is :
BE4-TEEN
Based on the standard table,Mr.Zodiac's seven digit phone number is : 234-8336
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As may be apparent to anyone interested in my previous post, the inference is made that ''4-TEEN'' is actually the last five digits [4-8336] of a ''standard'' seven digit phone number.
Since it is unlikely that Zodiac would give away details of his true identity, then perhaps [?],''4-8336'' are the last five digits of Mr.Avery's [then] home or workplace telephone number.
This would be a more logical explanation, since the card was,in essence,a death threat directed at Mr.Avery.
So,if anyone has access to Mr.Avery's phone information,at the time of his receiving this Halloween card, then the ''4-TEEN'' puzzle may have a solution.

If we examine the ''four quadrants'' on the back of the Halloween card, they contain :
By GUN,By ROPE,By KNIFE,By FIRE.
The first three are self-explanatory - but what did Zodiac exactly mean by ''By FIRE'' ?
The poem ''Jerusalem'' is one of William Blake's most notable works. The third verse of this poem :
Bring me my Bow of burning gold [Zodiac's gun [?]]
Bring me my Arrows of desire [Zodiac's bullets [?]]
Bring me my spear,O clouds unfold [Zodiac's knife [?]]
Bring me my Chariot of fire !
It appears that ''By FIRE'' refers to Zodiac's ''Chariot of fire'' - his Motorcar !

With reference to the possibility that ''4-TEEN'' represents the last five digits of a telephone number [4-8336],based on the Bell conversion table :
Information in the public domain indicates that Mr.Paul Avery lived on a houseboat at Gate 5 Road,Sausilito,CA 94965,at the time that he received Zodiac's Halloween card.Naturally,as an employee of The San Francisco Chronicle, his workplace address was 901 Mission Street,San Francisco,CA 94103.
So,anyone with access to archive phone directories, might be able to obtain this historical information - which would be legally obtained, since again, the information is in the public domain [...public libraries,etc...].
Just don't break the law [!].
