In to-day's Sunday Post newspaper,Human Rights Lawyer,Aamer Anwar, launched a scathing attack on the Scottish legal system, stating that it was ''not fit for purpose''.
Mr.Anwar, legal representative to Margaret Caldwell, mother of murder victim,Emma, criticised the length of time taken on decisions with respect to serious crime, and was ''simply unacceptable''.
The Crown Prosecution Service has already pinpointed the suspect that they believe is responsible for the murder of Emma Caldwell....but that was more than two years ago.
Mr.Anwar likened The Lord Advocate to an absentee landlord, and declared that : '' Justice delayed is Justice denied.''.
He further added : '' It's unacceptable to victims and it's unacceptable to the accused, who have a human right to justice, whatever the outcome may be.''.

Last night,at the Scottish BAFTA awards ceremony [...British Arts,Film and Television Awards...] , the BBC's ''Disclosure'' program, won the award for best current affairs program.
''Disclosure '' is a documentary, that deals with the unsolved murder of Glasgow prostitute,Emma Caldwell.
Following the documentary's debut airing in Scotland,in February of this year,it was scheduled to be shown in the rest of the U.K ,the following week.
''Disclosure'' 's further screening did not take place, and the documentary remains ''Unavailable to view'',at the BBC's i-player site.
Although the BBC have ,so far, offered no explanation for this...the only conclusion that can be drawn is,that the Crown Prosecution Service,in Edinburgh, have persuaded the BBC to ''shelve'' the documentary, until further notice.
In May of this year,Glasgow based ''The Daily Record '' newspaper, gave headline : ''Emma Caldwell murder cops close in on suspect after 14-year hunt for killer ''.
The waiting continues.......

Last week , Glasgow's ''The Daily Record '' gave headline : '' Emma Caldwell murder probe lawyers interview witnesses as new court case looms ''
The newspaper has reported that solicitors , under instruction of the Lord Advocate of Scotland , have taken witness statements , as the Crown Prosecution Service lay groundwork for a court case.
A police spokesman said : '' The time it has taken will not have been easy for the family , but there is determination that this investigation will be watertight.''
In May 2015 Lord Frank Mulholland ordered a re-investigation into the murder of Glasgow prostitute ,Emma Caldwell, who had met her death by strangulation in April 2005.
Now ,four and a half years later ,the public are being informed ,for the first time ,that there are claimed witnesses ,and that a trial for the murder of Ms.Caldwell is intended to take place.
What then , is so wrong in expecting an arrest to take place ''now'',and that the suspect be held on remand , until that court case takes place.
For the implications are , that there is a killer on the loose ,whose identity is known by the Crown Office and Police Scotland.
The waiting continues.....

As the wait continues , for an arrest to be made , of a known man believed to be responsible for the murder of Glasgow prostitute Emma Caldwell , in April 2005 , a previous suspect in her case , Iain Packer , was found guilty of serious assault of his girlfriend , and will be sentenced later this month .
Last week , it was revealed in court that Packer has a series of convictions for domestic abuse and serious assault , against at least two known women .
Iain Packer , now 47 , had been questioned on six previous occasions , in relation to Ms.Caldwell's murder , and had admitted to having sex with her about a dozen times , as a client .
Since law enforcement has decided to deal with Packer , at this time , it seems unlikely that he is the known perpetrator , in the murder of Emma Caldwell .

Iain Packer , a former suspect in the murder of Glasgow prostitute , Emma Caldwell , was sentenced to two years imprisonment , at Airdrie Sheriff's Court , for assaulting his ex-partner , including throttling her . In addition , Packer was banned from approaching his ex-partner for five years .
Following the BBC 's Disclosure documentary on the murder of Emma Caldwell , Packer's then girlfriend contacted the police , and Packer was arrested .
After one airing of the BBC documentary , in Scotland alone , the documentary was withdrawn from public viewing , and has remained unavailable ever since . This , despite extra media attention that the program received , for winning BAFTA 's prestigious '' Documentary of the Year '' .
The Crown Office moves in mysterious ways ?

Well , '' Strike a Light '' ( ? ) .
Last Wednesday , February 26th , The Royal Television Society's TV and TV Journalism Awards ceremony saw two awards given to programs involving the murder of Emma Caldwell .
The BBC's documentary '' Disclosure Who Killed Emma '' won an award for best Current Affairs Documentary .
And , the documentary '' For Sama '' , made by Channe 4 News and ITN Productions , won an award for best International Current Affairs program . '' For Sama '' is a 95-minute film , which focuses on BBC journalist Samantha Poling , and Ms.Poling's efforts to investigate the murder of Emma Caldwell , and make the '' Disclosure '' documentary for the BBC .
With neither awarded program appearing to be readily available for view , one wonders '' Who knows what ? '' , and what exactly is going on , with progress in the murder of Emma Caldwell ?

In to-days Glasgow-based newspaper , The Sunday Post , the headline :
'' The hardest wait : Emma Caldwell's mother on loss and fresh agonies as police inquiry into unsolved murder enters 16th year . ''
Margaret Caldwell , mother of murder victim Emma , expresses her concerns over ever receiving justice :
'' The police have spoken to us , but they don't really say anything . I would rather know something - anything , even if it is bad news , rather been left like this . ''
Margaret Caldwell continued :
'' The police used to tell us that they were doing everything they could to find Emma's killer , and we believed them . It is harder to believe them now . ''
In November , four months ago , the Crown Office revealed that they had ordered solicitors to take witness statements , for a presumed imminent court case . Indications are that Police Scotland have been aware of a suspect that they wish to arrest for Emma Caldwell murder , and since June 2018 - almost two years ago .
Deputy Chief Constable Malcolm Graham said , yesterday :
'' The investigation into Emma Caldwell's murder remains open , and detectives continue to examine the circumstances of her death . A report was submitted to the Crown Office in June 2018 . ''
It is known that Emma Caldwell's naked body was found in woodland , at Roberton , near Biggar . She had been strangled . Ms.Caldwell had previously been seen in Glasgow , a 45 minute car drive away .
The Crown Office were unable to comment , at this time .

Is this the beginning of the end , for the Zodiac ?
As is now confirmed , officers from Police Scotland swooped and arrested 79 year-old retired doctor , Kit Harrison , and subsequently charged Harrison for the murder of Dr.Brenda Page . Dr. Page was brutally beaten to death , as she returned to her flat , in Aberdeen , Scotland , by a man lying in wait , on July 14th 1978 . Dr.Page had been working as a moonlighting escort , at the time , although her day job was as a respected genetics lecturer and researcher , at Aberdeen University .
Kit Harrison is better known as Dr.Page's ex-husband . Following Dr.Page's murder , Harrison moved to Holland where he resided for the remainder of his working life .One presumes that Harrison will now be held on remand , until his trial date .
Readers of this thread will note the probable involvement of Brenda Page's murder re-investigation , started in February 2015 , along with the murder re-investigation of Emma Caldwell ( May 2015 ) , as well as transfer of Zodiac outlier victim , Joan Webster 's case file to the Crown Office ,in March 2015 , as being involved in what became known as '' The Police Scotland Spying Scandal '' .
As a reminder to readers , on July 19th 1978 , and just 5 DAYS following the murder of Brenda Page , the Zodiac is presumed to have type-written a letter to the San Francisco Chronicle giving forewarning that he was about to make the lives of Californians a misery , once again . This was in the wake of presumed letters sent in the April and May prior , with a similar underlining message .
In light of the arrest of Dr. Kit Harrison for the murder of Brenda Page , are we simply to surmise that the Zodiac is not responsible for the death of Dr.Page ?
This, I believe , depends on the extent of persuasiveness that the Zodiac's presumed July 19th typed letter does refer to Brenda Page's murder , as does it refers to Detective Inspector Dave Toschi's professional and public fall from grace .
If we accept that Police Scotland have arrested the correct perpetrator for Brenda Page's murder , then does this tell us that the July 19th letter represents yet another example of the Zodiac attempting to take blame for a murder that he did not commit ( ? ) .
This remains to be seen .
Here is the purported contents of the July 19th 1978 letter , sent to the San Francisco Chronicle , and just five days following the murder of Dr.Brenda Page :
'' I am the Zodiac and I am in control of all things .I am going to tell you a secret . I like friction tape . I like to have it around in case I need to truss someone up in a hurry . I have my name on a small metallic tape . You see , while you have it in your possession I want you to know that it belongs to me and that I may have left it accidentally . I am athletic . I could be swim fins or a piece of scuba gear . But maybe you play chess with me ? I have several cheap sets in closets all over . I have my name on the bottom of the lid of the Scotch Tape . My tape is waiting for me all over California . Do you know me ? I am the Zodiac and I am in control . ''

Thank you Ricardo , and hopefully the direct link will suit most Zodiac follower's needs . The program is , of course , free to view .
I watched it yesterday and , naturally it is dour and gritty , as one might expect . An examination into mistakes made in a murder investigation , are not likely to make for a '' pretty '' sight .
It has been a curious week , in the U.K. for True Crime followers :
Monday June 1st - The BBC makes '' Disclosure : Who Killed Emma ? '' available for general public viewing , after 15 months of cold storage .
Wednesday June 3rd - News breaks on the Madeleine McCann case , in Germany .
Thursday June 4th - '' Disclosure : Who Killed Emma ? '' wins Best Current Affairs Documentary , at the Royal Television Society Awards .
Then , ever since , the Madeleine McCann case has dominated the True Crime news .
Perhaps , strange goings on , behind the judicial scene , with the Emma Caldwell case re-emerging with imperceptibility ( ? ) .

Glasgow's The Daily Record yesterday carried the headline : '' American serial killer suspect linked to infamous Templeton Woods murders in Dundee ''
This was followed by Dundee's Courier headline : '' Suspected American killer linked with Templeton Woods murders in Dundee ''
The Templeton Woods murders focus on sex worker Carol Lannen , who was found naked , bound and strangled in Templeton Woods , on the outskirts of Dundee , Scotland , in March 1979 . Eleven months later , in February 1980 , nursery nurse Elizabeth McCabe was found naked , bound and strangled , just 150 yards away from where Ms.Lannen had been found , previously .No one has ever been arrested for the murder of Carol Lannen . But , in 2007 then taxi driver , Vincent Simpson , stood trial for the murder of Elizabeth Mccabe . He was acquitted .
In February 2015 , when Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland formerly requested that the murder of Aberdeen scientist , Brenda Page , be re-investigated , he gave mention that announcements on further cold case murders in the North-East of Scotland would be made . At the time , and given similar time proximity , it was interpreted that Mulholland was referring to the Templeton Woods murders . However , politics over an emerging Police Scotland Spying Scandal , and a perceived cover-up , seems to have precluded Mulholland from revealing further information to the public .
Yesterdays reportage from The Daily Record suggests that the murders of Carol Lannen and Elizabeth McCabe remain close to The Crown Office's considerations , as well as in the public's thoughts since , this recent article is one of a number to emerge , in the last few years .In addition , that even the infamous serial killer and extortionist , The Zodiac Killer , may hold complicity .
Two years ago , Dundee's Courier claimed that Police Scotland had denied the possible culpability of The Zodiac Killer , for the Templeton Woods murders . But , the Courier consulting with Police Scotland had been a fabrication on the Courier's part . A make-believe article and largely plagiarised , as such .
Shame on two well-known Zodiac contributors , for having become involved in the Courier's newspaper article .
Shame on Dundee's Courier - the oldest circulating newspaper in the world .

With the recent appointment of Police Scotland's new Divisional Commander of Greater Glasgow , Mark Sutherland , Sutherland gave an interview with respect to the challenges that lay ahead for the city and its surrounding area .
This included past work and events that have affected the city of Glasgow . Without being asked , Sutherland offered the following :
'' I also worked on the Emma Caldwell enquiry , which is still to be resolved of course . ''
Enquiry ? It is a fully blown murder re-investigation , of more than 5 years duration now , and apparently precipitated corruption at Police Scotland's Counter Corruption Unit which , became known as the '' Police Scotland Spying Scandal '' , accounting for more than 200 serving officers and public officials losing their jobs , including two Chief Constables .
A brief resume of supposed progress in the Emma Caldwell murder re-investigation :
April 2017 : Claims of a partial DNA profile of Emma Caldwell's killer established .
June 2017 : Claims of new potential evidence , including women's clothing , found in woodland close to where Emma Caldwell was murdered .
June 2018 : A file , accounting for Emma Caldwell's murder re-investigation , code-named '' Operation Bynum '' , is formerly handed over to The Crown Prosecution Service , by lead police investigator , Detective Chief Superintendent David McLaren . It is publicly disclosed that the file identifies a suspect involved in the murder of Emma Caldwell .
May 2019 : Glasgow's Daily Record headlines : '' Emma Caldwell murder cops close in on suspect after 14 year hunt for killer '' . The reality emerged that this was a request from The Crown Prosecution Service that Police Scotland take back their file , to check that all information within the file was correct .
November 2019 : Glasgow's Daily Record headlines : '' Emma Caldwell murder probe lawyers interview witnesses as new court case looms ''
April 2020 : Glasgow's Sunday Post : '' The hardest wait : Emma Caldwell's mother on loss and fresh agonies , as police inquiry into unsolved murder enters 16th year ''
Indeed , five and a half years after a decision to re-investigate Emma Caldwell's then ten-year old unsolved murder , and nothing coming from The Crown Prosecution Service to indicate that the suspect named in Detective Chief Superintendent David McLaren's '' Operation Bynum '' file , is to be arrested and charged with the murder of Emma Caldwell . Let alone , a '' court case looming '' .
And , the new Divisional Commander of Glasgow , Mark Sutherland , appears to be in a position only able to say :
''....the Emma Caldwell enquiry , which has still to be resolved , of course .''
As if everyone needed reminding .

Yesterday's Sunday Post headline :
'' Mother of Emma Caldwell appeals for justice as the reopened investigation into her daughter's murder drags on into another year .''
Following a murder re-investigation request from Scotland's Lord Advocate , in May 2015 , The Sunday Post had reported on '' A court case looms '' in November 2019 , with a suspect's name having been given to the Crown Office , with an official report on the murder re-investigation , earlier in that ( 2019 ) year .
But , two years on , no sign of an impending arrest .
Margaret Caldwell , mother of Emma , said :
'' I'm not a policeman or a lawyer or a judge , but why can't this man be taken to court and let a jury decide ? And if that is not possible , then why can't someone tell me ?
Meanwhile Police Scotland and the Crown Office insist that inquiries are ongoing , but progress , if any , in the reopened investigation into Emma's murder remains unclear .
